Former Browns safety T.J. Ward has signed a free agent contract with the Denver Broncos. The veteran agreed to a four-year contact and the move was announced on Twitter by team executive John Elway.

Ward, who was drafted in the second round by the Browns in 2010, moved on from Cleveland when the Browns turned their attention to free agent Donte Whitner, who they signed on Tuesday.

Ward was coming off a Pro Bowl season for Cleveland and was rated the sixth best safety in the league, according to Pro Football Focus.

The Broncos believe he will bring to the team an “energy and toughness” that they need.
