Woman Dead, Another Injured After Train Hits SUV

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio– One woman is dead and another is seriously injured after a train hit the vehicle they were in.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said it happened just after 1 a.m., Sunday morning, on Newkirk Road in Clinton Township.

Authorities said a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Jennifer A. Phillips of Millersburg was stopped partly on the tracks when it was hit.

Phillips, 32, was life flighted to Akron City Hospital with serious injuries.

A passenger in Phillips’ vehicle, Raven Nicole Caskey, 31, also of Millersburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The train involved was owned and operated by Norfolk & Southern Railroad. Representatives were at the scene.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash including how long Phillips’ vehicle was stopped on the tracks before it was hit.
