My Town: Akron Zoo Kicks Off Shutterbug Contest

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Zoo is hosting its annual contest for amateur photographers of all ages.

The annual Shutterbug Photo Contest will run from April 1 to August 20. This year’s categories are Youth (ages 11 and under), Teens (ages 12 – 17) and Adults (ages 18 and older).

All Shutterbug Photo Contest entries must be taken at The Akron Zoo and printed on 4″ x  6″ photographic paper in color or black and white. The initial fee for each entry is $5, and each additional entry is $3 per photo.

The zoo is also hosting its sixth annual Photography Workshop on Saturday, March 29 for all interested participants.

The Photography Workshop consists of three classes for kids, beginner photographers and intermediate photographers and will be taught by local photography professional Dave Shoenfelt of Shoenfelt Photography.

Workshop registration is $20 per participant.
