CANTON, OH — A man accused of attacking, groping and possibly trying to abduct a Canton teenager  last month was arrested Thursday.

Kenneth Earl White, 50, was booked into the Stark County Jail and charged with Attempted Abduction and Gross Sexual Imposition. Bond was set at $200,000 and White was ordered to have no contact with the victim.

According to the U.S. Marshal’s Office in Canton, authorities received a warrant for the arrest of the suspect and learned who his girlfriend was, hoping she would lead them to White.

Officials say White’s girlfriend picked him up at a gas station and a short time later, authorities performed a traffic stop and arrested the suspect at Cleveland Avenue SW, just past the I-77 on-ramp in Canton Township.

White is accused of following a 17-year-old girl inside the Walmart off Route 62 on February 2. The victim said the suspect groped her and attacked her in the parking lot after leaving the store.

The U.S. Marshal’s Office says White does have a criminal history, but not a history of attempted abduction and gross sexual imposition.
