danny parmetorWILLOUGHBY HILLS, Ohio — Family members, friends and the community gathered Saturday night to remember Chardon High School shooting victim Danny Parmertor.

The Danny Parmertor Memorial Fundraiser is all about giving back to students and the community.

The purpose is to award scholarships to Chardon students or students at Auburn Career Center who plan to study computers and IT, which is what Danny intended to study.

“It’s great to see people giving and supporting us, and some of them don’t even know us,” said Annamarie Iannetta, family spokesperson. “It makes us feel loved and supported, and in a time like this and a tragedy, you want to know someone cares about you, want to know nobody forgot about your cousin or your family member or your loved one.”

Parmertor, 16, Demetrius Hewlin, 16, and Russell King, Jr., 17, were shot to death by a gunman inside the high school’s cafeteria on Feb. 27, 2012.

Last year, the fundraiser raised $40,000 in scholarships for five students. Organizers hoped to raise even more Saturday night.
