CLEVELAND — Poison plays paradoxical roles in nature, health, history, literature and myth.

Poison can protect against predators or be a lethal weapon.

The Power of Poison is an exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History in Cleveland that takes a look at the good and the bad side of poison.

Visitors of the exhibit explore some of history’s most intriguing poisoning cases, many of which remain a mystery today.

The exhibit offers information about toxic species and how studying poison’s effects on human cells helps scientists figure out how to protect, repair and heal them.

Visitors also discover which fairytales, myths and legends about poison contain kernels of truth.
