AVON, Ohio — An annual run to benefit northeast Ohio’s homeless has opened runner registration.

Neighborhood Alliance is hosting its Homerun for the Homeless 5k Run/1 Mile Family Walk on Saturday, April 26. The run/walk will be held at All Pro Freight Stadium on Baseball Boulevard in Avon.

Organizers say all participants who register before midnight on March 31 will get a chance to win two tickets to see Bruno Mars this summer in Cleveland. There will also be prizes given to the top fundraising team, and the top fundraising individual.

In 2013, the Neighborhood Alliance Haven Center Homeless Shelter provided 15,126 shelter nights to 471 residents. All proceeds from the Homerun for the Homeless fund the center’s initiatives and programs.

Homelessness is a very serious issue not only in Avon, in Cuyahoga County, Lake County, but all over the country. People are taking the “blind eye” approach to solving the problem. Think it will go away, as you want them to also?? Guess what? Sorry it won’t. Do something about it instead of complaining about it!!
