Father of Chardon Victim Found Dead
CHARDON, Ohio — The father of one of the Chardon High School shooting victims was found dead in his home Thursday.
According to John Hiscox with the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office, who contacted the media on behalf of the Geauga County Coroner’s Office, no foul play was suspected in the death of Russell King Sr.
A family member found King in his Village of Aquilla home. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
The day King was found also marked two years since the tragedy at Chardon High School.
King’s son, Russell, 17, along with two other teens, Danny Parmertor, 16, and Demetrius Hewlin, 16, lost their lives when a classmate opened fire in the school.
The City of Chardon released this statement:
“The City of Chardon is deeply saddened by the news of the death of Russell King Sr. The thoughts and prayers of the entire community are with the family at this difficult time. Our collective hearts are heavy with sympathy.
“The community and school continue with the healing process and continue supporting one another. The three lives lost on 2/27/12 live on in our hearts and minds.”
Throughout the month of February, students performed random acts of kindness in memory of the victims.
