A new study brings the fate of the grocery store into question.

It showed people gravitate toward big box stores when they need to shop for food.

According to Forbes citing a study by retail design firm King Retail Solutions, 77 percent of shoppers bought groceries from a non-grocer in 2013.

Target and Walmart were the most popular choices out of non-traditional grocer options.

The study also found wealthier shoppers were more likely to buy from the non-grocers.

A total of 1,200 shoppers were surveyed.

sorry giant eagle I use coupon and stock up with the gas points I do not like to pay a fee to go shopping and with coupons a smaller box is cheaper than a big box. ex 1 roll of bounty paper towels were on sale at GE for 1.00 and I had coupons for 55 cents each double was free . And the people are very nice there

Giant Eagle is way over priced. I do agree on that but why go to Marc’s and they will only take Discover credit card’s You say that the gas at Giant Eagle’s gas is watered down! Care to elaberate on that?? Like proof??

For our home we have found that buying in quantity at Sams Club saves money and less trips to the grocery store. They also have cashiers and we are not forced to use self check out. We usually only go the local Giant Eagle for medications and sale prices on meat for the gas perks. The gas at Get Go has to meet state standards and it not watered down.

I PREFER BJs WHOLESALE CLUB, BECAUSE YOU DON’T HAVE TO BUY IN BULK ON ITEMS YOU DON’T NEED IN BULK AND THEY SEND ME COUPONS EVERY MONTH ON THINGS WE REALLY USE AND THEIR GAS PRICES ARE USUALLY BETTER.

Marc’s and Drug Mart are gross to walk through. At least Giant Eagle tries to make their stores appealing to their customers. Prices are higher everywhere though. Walmart and Sam’s have some deals where I can save but I have a deep freezer and extra storage space for the huge package sizes.

Mainly shop Giant Eagle and Marc’s Pinzone’s on Broadview for my meats. Using coupons I save anywhere from 35%to 50%. There were no coupons in Sunday’s paper due to President’s Day this Sunday there should be more. Have a nice day!

I shop at giant eagle because I don’t like prepackaged meats. And besides giant eagle and Aldis there prices aren’t much different for the better quality at GE
