NORTH CANTON, Ohio — People who live in parts of North Canton were instructed to boil their water before using it.

The precautionary boil alert was issued Friday because of a water main break in the area of Highland Park and Aultman streets.

Included in the alert were business and residents in the area bordered by Aultman Road to the west, Lee Avenue between Pleasantwood and Cleveland avenues to the south, Cleveland Avenue to the east and businesses/residents just north of Highland Park (such as Brookledge Street, Highland Creek, Wellspring and AkCan Circle).

There was no initial evidence that the water system was contaminated, but the water department was conducting an investigation.
