CLEVELAND–The Indians and righty Justin Masterson will not be going to arbitration this year after all.  The two sides agreed to a one-year deal on Tuesday, avoiding arbitration.

Masterson was coming off an All-Star season in 2013, where he pitched three complete game shutouts, fashioned a 3.45 era, but finished the year with an oblique injury that sent him to the bullpen for the postseason.

Masterson filed for arbitration and asked for $11.8 million. Published reports say he and the Tribe finalized a deal worth $9.7 million.

He will be eligible for free agency after this season.
