Millions Send Birthday Wishes to Boy in Need
You only turn 11 once, and when a Michigan boy celebrates this year, he’s in for the surprise of a lifetime.
More than one million people are sending him well wishes in the form of Facebook likes, comments and shares.
Such a following would impress just about anyone, but this could be especially meaningful for birthday boy Colin.
You see, Colin didn’t even want a party. He told his mom he doesn’t have any friends, “so what’s the point?”
According to his mom, Colin has disabilities and social skills are a challenge. So she created the Facebook page as a place where people could send encouraging messages and positive thoughts.
The page went live on Feb. 2. In 10 days, it had 1.2 million likes and countless messages.
And there’s still time for it to grow. Colin doesn’t turn 11 until March 9.
Now people are sending birthday cards to a post office box set up in his name.
Birthday greetings may be sent to: PO box 756 / Richland, MI 49083-0756.
