(CNN) — Two-time gold medalist Shaun White of the United States finished fourth Tuesday at the men’s halfpipe, coming up short in his bid to be the first American man to win the same event in three consecutive Winter Olympics.

Iouri Podladtchikov, representing Switzerland, won the event with a best score of 94.75.

He was joined on the podium by Ayumu Hirano and Taku Hiraoka of Japan.

White scored 90.25 on his second jump after a 35.00 on his first.

Podladtchikov was born in Russia and moved to Switzerland in 1992. He represented Russia at the 2006 Games before becoming a Swiss citizen in 2007.
