Cavs Beat Grizzlies, 91-83 in Overtime

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Don’t look now, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are on a winning streak after beating the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night 91-83 in overtime.

Kyrie Irving scored 28 points as Cleveland won two in a row after losing six straight.

Nick Calathes scored 17 points for the Grizzlies who have lost three of their last four games. Cleveland jumped out to the 22-18 first quarter lead after a big quarter by Irving.

The Cavs led by as many as 14 in the second quarter, outscoring Memphis 20-15 in the period. The Grizzlies closed the gap in the third quarter in a hurry and only trailed Cleveland by 1 at 59-58.

The Cavs led by as many as 9 midway through the fourth quarter before Memphis tied the game at 78 forcing overtime. In the extra frame, Luol Deng opened up the overtime frame with a huge 3 that gave Cleveland an 81-78 lead, a lead the Cavs would never give up.

Dion Waiters had 18 for the Cavs, and C.J. Miles added 14 as Cleveland improved to 2-0 since the team fired General Manager Chris Grant.

The Cavs will host Sacramento on Tuesday; tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena.
