Barberton Triple Murder Suspects Due in Court

BARBERTON, Ohio — The men accused of shooting four people in Barberton on New Year’s Eve, and killing three of them, were scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Eric D. Hendon, 31, and his brother, Michael D. Hendon, 22, both of Akron, were indicted on several charges including aggravated murder, attempted murder and aggravated robbery.

If convicted on the aggravated murder counts, the men could face the death penalty.

They allegedly went to the home of John Kohler on Dec. 31 with intentions of robbing him.

Police said they responded to a call for help on 7th Street NE around 6:50 p.m.

Kohler, 42, and his two children, Ashley Carpenter, 18, and David Kohler Carpenter, 14, were shot and killed.

Kohler’s girlfriend, Ronda Blankenship, 38, was also shot.
