HURON TOWNSHIP, Erie County — A tow truck driver was hit and seriously injured Thursday as he was trying to load a vehicle on the side of the road.

According to the Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, it happened at about 9:15 a.m. on state Route 2 near state Route 13.

Reports state that Scott A. Farrell, 55, of Sandusky, was parked on the shoulder of the road and was in the process of hoisting a Chevy Silverado onto the flat-bed of his tow truck.

Jessica L. Hellisz, 30, of Cleveland, was driving a Dodge Nitro west, failed to maintain control of her vehicle and slid into the truck, hitting Farrell in the process, according to reports.
