NORTHFIELD CENTER, Ohio — A Northfield Center woman faces 25 charges after being accused of slurring her speech and acting abnormally at her daycare center Monday.

Dana K. Gruszka, 44, faces 24 counts of endangering children and one count of obstructing official business in the incident.

According to Summit County Sheriff’s reports, officers were called to First Class Daycare, 9305 Olde Eight Road, for a welfare check on children just before 8:30 a.m. Monday.

A patron of the daycare center said that Gruszka was acting strange and seemed intoxicated, according to reports.

When they arrived at the daycare, deputies said they detected a moderate odor of alcohol and said Gruszka’s eyes were watery and speech sluggish.

Gruszka refused to take field sobriety tests and was arrested, according to police.

Gruszka was arraigned in Stow Municipal Court Jan. 15, pleading not guilty to the charges. She was released on $5,000 dollar bond and will be back in court later this month.
