MENTOR, Ohio -- About 57 people were moved to a new facility, and three others moved rooms after water lines burst in the attic of Heartland of Mentor nursing home Thursday morning.

The nursing home said the staff were able to move the residents safely and quickly. No one was hurt.

The patients were transferred to the Heartland of Mentor’s sister centers. 15 area fire departments helped move the residents.

An operations team is assessing the damage at the Heartland of Mentor, and a cleanup firm has been called in to begin repairs. The nursing home hopes to move patients back home as quickly as possible.

As a result of the water line break, Heartland of Mentor’s phone system has been affected and is not currently working. An alternative number for families to reach the facility is 440-256-4935.
