Lorain, Ohio – Gas has been restored to 80-85% of customers who have been dealing without heat in frigid temperatures, according to Columbia Gas.

Columbia Gas said it’s imperative that customers listen out for crews to restore gas to their homes.

The company spent Tuesday afternoon going door to door in parts of North Ridgeville, Elyria and Eaton Township, reconnecting gas to about 2,200 customers who had to go without heat overnight.

An interruption from a pipeline to a distribution center caused the outage on Monday night, according to Columbia Gas.

Crews had to first go door to door to turn off service and re-energize meters, then return a second time to restore service and see if the gas was working properly.

As a resident who continues to go without gas for the third day, I wish Columbia Gas would consider using an automated recording system to keep us updated. From the start there has been no word or update, only what the news reports.
