Events, Facilities Closing Due to Weather
Several events, facilities and offices are being closed due to the winter storm moving through Northeast Ohio.
Most of northeast Ohio is currently under a Winter Storm Warning and Wind Chill Warning, with temperatures reaching record-breaking lows.

Cleveland State University will close at 3 p.m. Monday and stay closed through Jan. 7. Unless otherwise notified, normal operations will resume Jan. 8.
The second and third shifts at Air Power Dynamics, 7350 Corporate Blvd., Mentor, are closed Monday.
Employees at the Social Security Administration Office of Disability Adjudication and Review in Cleveland will be dismissed at 3 p.m. Monday. The office will also be closed Tuesday.
Monday night’s organizational council meeting in Shaker Heights has been canceled. It is reschedule for Monday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m.
The Cleveland Rocks FAFSA Kick-Off set for tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the City Hall Rotunda has been canceled.
The Stow Municipal Courthouse closed at noon and will be closed through Tuesday. All scheduled hearings will be rescheduled.
All recreation programs for Monday and Tuesday have been canceled in Stow.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will close early Monday — at 3 p.m.
Boston Mills/Brandywine ski resorts are closed Monday and Tuesday.
The Horseshoe Casino is closed until further notice.
The Village of Richfield administrative offices closed at noon. They will remain closed until 8 a.m. Wednesday. The Richfield Village Council Meeting scheduled for 8 p.m. Tuesday is also canceled.
The Portage County Administration Building, the Administration Building Annex, the Riddle Block Building, the Water Resources Department, the Dog Warden’s Office, the Records Center and the Motor Pool will close at 3 p.m. Monday and will not reopen until Wednesday as normally scheduled.
Refuse collection in Rocky River is canceled for Tuesday. It will be delayed one day the rest of the week. The Transfer Station will be open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for residents with ID to dispose of their refuse.
In Rocky River, the Senior Center will be closed and mini-soccer at the Civic Center is canceled. Basketball for Monday is canceled Monday as is adult volleyball at Lutheran West.
Monday’s Akron City Council meeting and committee meetings are canceled.
In Mentor, all recreation and senior center classes and activities are canceled Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday’s Mentor City Council meeting has also been canceled.
The House of Blues in Cleveland will be closed Tuesday.
The City of Brecksville will not pick up trash Monday or Tuesday. All trash and recycling pick-up will resume Wednesday.
Republic Services’ Northeast Ohio offices will be closed Tuesday January 7th due to in climate weather, trash service will resume Wednesday January 8th an service will be running one day behind.
Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court will be
closed on Tuesday, January 7.
This closure affects the General Division, Juvenile Court, Domestic Relations Court, Probate Court and the 8th District Court of Appeals.
Any planned Tuesday hearings will be rescheduled and any filings that are due Tuesday will be moved to the next day of business.
As of now the Courts plan to be open at their regularly scheduled times on Wednesday.
Due to severe weather conditions, the Cleveland Museum of Art will be closed to the public on Tuesday, January 7.
The city of Akron has warming centers available to provide people shelter from the dangerous arctic elements.
The city of Broadview Heights has canceled all Human Services activities and medical transportation for Monday and Tuesday, January 6 & 7 because of the dangerous weather conditions.
Recreation Center will be open regular operating hours on Monday 1/6
and Tuesday 1/7. The following recreation programs have been cancelled:
Aqua Fit for Monday 1/6 and all Silver Sneakers classes for Tuesday 1/7.
City Hall will be open regular hours. Tonight’s Council meeting will be held as scheduled.
The city of Tallmadge will have their Rec Center open for 24 hours to anyone who has lost
heat in their home. If a Tallmadge resident needs assistance due to the
weather, call the Tallmadge Police non-emergency line at 330-633-2181.
on Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties will be closed tomorrow,
7, due to the expected sub-zero temperatures.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office warning residents to stay off the roads. All non-essential travel is not recommended until all roadways have been cleared and temperatures are more moderate.

The Brunswick Community Recreation Center will be open as a temporary shelter for city residents who may find themselves without heat. The RecCenter will remain open during its normal operating hours from 5:00am to 10:00pm, and the multi-purpose room will be available after hours for emergency shelter overnight on Monday, January 6, 2014 and Tuesday, January 7, 2014.
The Parma Municipal Court will be closed Tuesday, due to extreme weather conditions. All matters on the Court’s docket will be rescheduled, time shall be tolled and parties will be notified of their new court dates. Any filing deadlines will be extended until the next business day.
