BARBERTON, OH -- Two men have been arrested in the New Year's Eve shootings that killed a man and two teens in Barberton.

Michael Deon Hendon, 22, and his brother, Eric Donta Hendon, 30, were placed under arrest. Both are charged with three counts of Aggravated Murder and are currently in the Summit County Jail.

According to police, the suspects went to the home on 7th Street NE to rob the residents of drugs and money. Information and evidence collected by authorities led to their arrest.

Police responded to a call for help on 7th Street NE around 6:50 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. When police arrived, they found four people shot inside the home.

Friday, the deaths of Ashley Carpenter, 18, and David Kohler-Carpenter, 14, were officially ruled homicides. The teens were visiting their father, John Kohler, 42, at his home.

Kohler died from his injuries around 3:45 p.m. Friday at Akron City Hospital.

His girlfriend, Rhonda Blankenship, 38, was also shot, but survived.

The victims' mother, Leiha Carpenter tells Fox 8 she does not know the suspects. She is grateful for the arrests, but is devastated by the deaths of her children.

"They were great kids, loved by everybody. That's why we can't find a place to hold their funeral, there isn't a place big enough," said Carpenter. "Those kids were my whole life.  Right now I don't feel anything.  I feel like my whole world has been taken away from me."

Hundreds braved the cold weather Friday night to remember the victims at a vigil. Many made signs while others held candles. Some even took turns sharing memories of the siblings.

"We were all in shock because of everything that happened. The kids spent a lot of days at that house,” said Haleina Pouncey.

"I'm just glad there was some justice made tonight, but that doesn't bring the kids back,” said Jeremy Pouncey.

When the filthy blacks are murdering raping and pillaging in such high numbers you are a fucking fool for sticking to your anti racist agenda. They’re certainly racist towards you and will murder your whole family for a dime. You should be dead with them. Your attitude is why they feel like they can attack whites with impunity. I hope its you next. It will never be me. I’ll slaughter them like pigs without the slightest remorse.

Yeah? I blame the fatherless, black scum that don’t know right from wrong. And their worthless black mothers who should also be hung for failing so badly as a parent.

  • Tatt2kidd

There my have been drugs involved, but their is NO resone to take anyone’s life especially kids. The 30 year old suspect should of never got out of prison to begin with, already done time for 2 counts of robbery, sexual assault and shot the lady in her private after Raping her savual times. Released in 2013. Are prison systems do not work, their is no rehibiltation, just creates monsters. I believe in eye for an eye and save tax payers dollars.

  • Hate crime

This is a hate crime if the victims woulda been black bet they wouldn’t have got shot during the robbery if us white people don’t come together this is just going to keep happening this is bullsht if you people wanted to be honest you know if the victims were black they wouldn’t have all got shot if white people don’t start sticking together we will be ran all over white people are now the minority into today’s world

  • class clown

Why do you guys keep bringing Obama into this? He is a champion for the middle class and working people, not cri minals or exclusively blacks. The state of Ohio’s horrible prison system is partly to blame here. The main blame goes to the two guys who allegedly did this. They can come up with all kinds of excuses, but the blame is on them. They alone are responsible.

Were the suspects negroes…….. AGAIN? The most ubiquitous suspect description in the entire universe: the suspect is a BLACK MALE! It is what it is ……. a savage is what a savage does …… and the savage is BLACK …… not maybe, not almost ……. BLACK!
Remember ……. a racist in 2014 is someone having the social courage to finally and unequivocally call a spade a spade ……… SPADE!

    • Nicole

Educate your self ” Mr. Smith” a racist in 2014, is the same as a racist in 1924. The word you are aiming to achieve the status of is activist. Which you can never be, activist dont spew hatred and degrading terms,

  • John Smith

Darwin was right ……. “these people” DE-volved from man and represent the evolutionary missing links between man and baboons. Forget prison …… “these people” belong in the zoo with mandatory Primate Training 101 with free entitlement bananas, peanuts and extra monthly minutes for their Obama phones.

  • John Smith

Race has every-thang to do with it ……. how many more excuses? How much longer do we have to appease, placate and cajole the “anointed minority” and its perverted BLACK subculture with its disgusting, vile and insidious lifestyle? “These people” are like an intrusion of cockroaches infesting one neighborhood after another …… perhaps YOUR neighborhood is next!

  • not surprised

Well, is it news to anyone that Barberton is full of drug trafficking? Being a resident myself I see all kinds of things like garbage from method production on the side of the road all the time. It was a matter of time before someone got shot again. this time kids too. Pack your bags because it isn’t getting any better. Race had nothing to do with these 2 men or their crime. If you shoot ANYBODY, then you deserve to be put to death. Regardless of race. Rest in peace..

    • a. holden

Race NEVER has anything to do with it so long as blacks are the murderers, right? And as long as the victims are white kids. Double standard is getting double old.

    • Oman

at not surprised: Barberton is actually a pretty decent place, it’s not near as bad as the ne side of Canton, a lot of Akron and Cleveland. Why pack your bags? Why not stand with the rest of barbertonians and fight to take your city back? Barberton has a lot of history, a lot of elders that lived through the good and are now seeing the bad. It doesn’t have to be bad, it can be changed. Stay true to your city, I don’t live there… but I have been interested in a few properties there. I have family there.. It’s important to not let the skease take over… the slime. Two people from Kenmore are done… 3 people lost their lives in Barberton

  • billy

By the way the girl that survived is my sister in law and she is still holdig on for dear life they cant take her off oxygen cause her body wont let her. This is bs why those two had to take the kids life. Why shoot innocent kids and kill them. You two are animals. Pls eeryone pray for my sister in law to come too.

Nicole ……. poor, poor Nicole ….. one sick puppy …. lost in her Pollyanna world of racially righteous, “new” generation, socio-psycho babble. She boasts about being human first and looks beyond race and other salient, relevant factors. Well, how noble, indeed. That may be all she has in common with her delusory mindset and the lowest common denominator with the jungle people.
And with her pompous pretense and edumacated, progressive nonsense she’ll continue to make more and more excuses for the perverted BLACK subculture and fail to smell the BBQ at Smokin’ Joe’s!

    • Nicole

Lol Pollyanna thats a good one! Lucky my mother loved that movie so I am not naive in understanding your insult and assumption. I happen to have loved the struggle and grew up in poverty in the ghettos of cleveland and just so happened to do well for myself. Being exposed to hatred and judgment from white suburbia like yourself make me tralize my skin color gets me judged less in white America. Hmmm poped your little bubble huh???? African Americans have been nicer to me and more accepting then most of white America. You judge an entire race by monsters

      • John Smith

Talk about someone being in bubble! Do you actually believe your self delusions or simply follow the voices in your head? Go on your n****r groupie ……. you’ll really feel good about yourself! Take your meds and WASH YOUR HANDS!

FYI: the monsters are BLACK since you do every-thang not to notice!

  • John Smith

Race has nothing to do with it ……. au contraire! Too many BLACKS commit too many crimes while the racially righteous (Nicole) make too many excuses for the “anointed minority” ……. it is what it is …… a savage is what a savage does …… and the savage is BLACK ….. not maybe, not almost ……. B-L-A-C-K …… as in BLACK!
Time for a reality check …….. how long do we have to appease, placate and cajole “these people” as this BLACK savagery continues?

  • Carol

“You cannot separate the just from the unjust and the good from the wicked; for they stand together before the face of the sun even as the black thread and the white threads are woven together. When the black thread breaks, the weaver shall look into the whole cloth, and he shall also examine the loom”. (Kahlil Gibran) This is a horrible event in our town but I have to ask as a human race, how have we produced such evil? Our lives have become so separated from our spirits that many have become immune to violence…….look around you, what do you see on TV, news, movies, music, video games….I could go on. No matter the variables, I pray for the families, my heart breaks for the Mother of these innocent children, and yes, even for the families of the killers. They too have parents, sisters, brothers aunts and uncles who may be devastated. I personally feel so connected to the human race that I am so sad for us all and I ask, “What Can I Do To Cause Change ?”. Racism is not the answer. I don’t know the answer, but I DO know it’s not HATE.

    • Carol

Jack, I really don’t believe that people have forgotten the victims. I think that they are so angry that their thoughts are just all over the place! Sometimes we vent just to release fear and sadness and it’s disguised as meanness and the need to attack………I get that. I don’t know anyone who’s first thoughts were not the children. People blow off steam and are quick to form opinions but down deep in their hearts as well as ours are tears. We are all just trying to work through it, it’s hard.

  • Jack

As always everyone talking here FORGOT what this is all about and that is these two kids are no longer here their life’s have been cut short and for WHAT?

  • Look At The Facts

I’ve heard through the grape vine that people used to go to that house to buy hard core drugs. I think that the girlfriend who is in the hospital, if she lives she should be drug tested and an investigation should happen to find out if she was selling/buying drugs because if so she should be punished, 2 innocent children died and for what… DRUGS? Those 2 poor children were innocent and didn’t deserve to lose their lives. If any officers are looking at this, please consider further investigating this. Also the two guys who murdered those two children should not be sentenced to death, that’s the easy way out for them. They should be sentenced to life without parole so they can suffer and rot away in prison.

  • Jack

I agree! But the bottom line here is two men came into someone else’s home and shot four people in the head and they deserve this why?

    • Carol

Jack, I think what “Look at the facts” means is NOT that any of the victims deserved what happend, of course they didn’t. I think what is being said here is when or if you are dealing drugs in your home (if that were the case) you put your family in great danger. The adults have the responsibility to keep a safe haven for their family. If you commit criminal acts, that’s not providing a safe place for your children. The murder is one act, separate from the other of keeping a safe home. I pray this is not the case because the girlfriend will never forgive herself. I hate to speculate so I am going to watch this case closely and see what info comes out………the real truth may never come out.

  • Jack

Carol, I agree with what your saying to some degree just like earlier Emily states the family is white trash! I don’t know this family and who is she to say that these kids are white trash! I don’t know if the adults where dealing drugs or not! But at this time does it really matter why aren’t people saying that these two men had no right for what ever reason to come into their home and shoot all of them! Please stop trying to give these men an excuse for their actions!

  • John Smith

More BLACK savages …….. AGAIN! White people are soooooooooo hopelessly naïve (Nicole) and utterly street stupid. They allow themselves to be duped and intimidated by the BIG BLACK BOOGEYMAN!

BLACKS have got to stop blaming whitey just because THEIR perverted BLACK subculture is sooooooooo totally F*****-UP!

    • Carol

Jack, thanx for the reply and you are right. No one for any reason has the RIGHT to enter your home w/o permission or even with permission and do harm. I agree. I think what is being said is speculating that the murderers were not strangers and that the adults or one of them in that homehad some kind of dealings with them. This would endanger the family, NOT give an excuse for the killing. Let’s just say that I myself had drug dealings going on in my home, not all of the time, but once in a while. I would not always know the “Riff Raff” degenerates that might come to my door, would you agree? One night they come to my door because I either owe them money or they have come for their drugs which I may or may not have at the time. These guys are already high, have the criminal background and they shoot my family. Sounds pretty plausible, right? I am the only survivor. What is my participation in this event? Would they have come to my door if I had not dealt drugs ever with them or anyone else? Now, this is all “What ifs”, just speculation. I would feel much remorse and much guilt if I were the adult in the home because I would have felt that I put these children in harms way. My actions would not have given these killers the RIGHT to do the horrible crime, however, my participation in drug dealing may have led them to MY PARTICULAR DOOR, see what I mean? The killers sought out that address, it was not random. And to John Smith……you are pathetic. Gather your redneck skinhead friends to back what rhetoric you spew like vomit and see how far you get. You would never stand up for yourself without your hate followers, you are a coward. Jack, I don’t know what economic status of the family or their character. Good people can find themselves in tight situations as well as undesirable people, don’t you think?

      • John Smith

Redneck? Coward? Skinhead? That’s it? I’m offended ….. oh my. And I’m sure you and your n****r dope buddies would know a lot about pathetic …….

      • Carol

“dope buddies?” what are you on? Do you have a job? Some of the phrases you are using are straight from certain publications. Do you need to plagiarize ? Can’t you at least be original? You sound very uneducated, how far did you go in school?

      • John Smith

Don’t need to go very far in school and get an edumacation in order to deal with the jungle people …. Primate Training 101, a bag of peanuts and a bunch of bananas!

      • Carol

“Edumacation” and “Jungle people” :). What are you, a fourth grader? No, really, I don’t want to debate a kid. The”Anointed Minority”, really?Doing your homework on utube? Figures……kids like you are so predictable!!

  • John Smith

BLACKS will NEVER blame other BLACKS for perpetuating the very stereotypes that they accuse whitey of using about them. Make more and more and more excuses for the “anointed minority” ………

  • Jack

Carol, I agree with you and just don’t understand why people just start running at the mouth and don’t stop to think first! My thoughts and prayers are for the mother and family of these two children and the family of their father, may God be with you all in this very hard time! And to billy and his family I pray for your sister-in law to pull through.

    • Carol

Jack, yes, I join you in prayer. May God hold this family close to Him and give them strength to endure. I cannot imagine the grief they suffer.
