Make Your Yard A Hot Spot For Birds This Winter

Sheryl Caine from Wild Birds Unlimited has lots of great ideas on how to turn your backyard into a winter wonderland  for birds.

Sheryl explained to Fox 8's Todd Meany how you can recycle your Christmas tree to provide shelter for the birds. She also shared a simple recipe for the perfect winter meal for our feathered friends.

"Make Your Own Nutty Spread"

1-Cup chunky peanut butter (un-salted if possible)
3-Cups coarse ground corn meal
1- Cup solid shortening
1- Cup (or more) good wild birdseed blend
Optional: Asst. raisins or other small pieces of dried fruit

Mix together and spread on flat sided feeders, suet cages, bark of trees or  pine cones.
