If a Michigan lawmaker has his way, driving privileges will be in jeopardy for teens who consistently skip class.

According to, a state representative wants to suspend the licenses of students who are chronically truant, or what he calls the “worst offenders.”

The license would be suspended or withheld for six months.

Backers hope to get a hearing on the initiative in early 2014.
