Bond Set for Man Charged in Son’s Death
CLEVELAND — Bond was set at $1 million for a man charged with felony child endangering in the death of his 3-year-old son.
William Sheppard, 26, was in court Monday at 8:30 a.m.
No plea was entered.
Homicide detectives from the Cleveland Division of Police arrested Sheppard after an investigation Friday night at a home on the 3000 block of Project Avenue.
Bryson Marshall was found dead at 7:40 p.m. when authorities arrived at the home.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office released the cause and manner of Marshall’s death Monday, just hours after Sheppard’s court appearance.
He died of blunt force trauma to the head, neck, trunk and extremities. The death was ruled a homicide.
People who live nearby are sickened over what happened. They remember seeing Bryson play outside with other kids at the home and can’t believe such a young life was cut short.
“I mean, my kids play with his kids, my daughter played with his son,” said neighbor, Erick Houston. “Everyday I would see him with his son, getting him from day care, taking care of his kids and washing clothes– he was going to work, doing the same thing I do, he was no bad dude.”
Sheppard’s first pretrial is set for Jan. 6.
