My Town: Kids Fire Safety Workshop

WESTLAKE, Ohio — The arts meets fire safety for a workshop designed to teach young kids how to stay safe during a fire.

The Be Safe! program is a play designed to show kids fire safety basics. The play will be held Friday, January 31, from 9 a.m to 12 p.m. at the Westlake Recreation Center.

The play is designed for children ages 3 to 5, and is sponsored by Safe Kids Greater Cleveland.

According to the program, 44,900 fires in 2010 were started by children ages 1 to 5, and resulted in 90 deaths, 890 injuries and $210 million in property damage.
