CLEVELAND — The Greater Cleveland Aquarium is welcoming two Swell Sharks and two Horn Sharks after the closure of the National Aquarium in Washington D.C.

After 81 years, the National Aquarium has closed its doors for good to make necessary renovations to the Herbert C. Hoover Department of Commerce Building. More than 1,000 fish and marine life are going to various aquariums across the country.

Cleveland was one of only three aquariums across the country to receive sharks.

To celebrate, the Greater Cleveland Aquarium will hold a welcome party for the sharks through January 5. Visitors will get to see the four new sharks up close and personal in the Touch Pool, alongside several stingrays.
