Mount Union prepares for title game.

SALEM, VA — The Purple Raiders of Mount Union had a very rough night in Salem, Virginia in the Stagg Bowl, the D3 title game.

Wisconsin-Whitewater stunned the defending champs, pulling away in the second half to win 52-14.

Mount Union, with Gagliardi Trophy winner Kevin Burke at the controls, could get nothing going in the second half. They trailed 21-14 as BJ Mitchell scored on a run right before the half.

There was no scoring whatsoever for the Purple Raiders as the War Hawks hoisted the trophy and ended Mount Union’s long winning streak.

The only other TD scored by Mount Union came on a Burke TD run in the first quarter.
