CANTON, Ohio - The Tsaftarides family said it has been hit hard by a thief who stole $24,000 worth of merchandise. The family owns George's Menswear and Ladies Corner in the Belden Village Glass Tower in Canton.

"I mean, this has been our family business for over 40 years," Daisy Tsaftarides said.

They believe the thief cased it first.

"Him or someone else has been in here scouting the store, looking at what they want to pick up because people don't just come in and automatically know where to go," Daisy Tsaftarides said.

She said the thief broke in before the store opened last Sunday.

"The guy that came in took all the purses. All the leather purses, all the leather jackets besides one, which was our cheapest one and most of our cashmere overcoats," Daisy Tsaftarides said.

The man is caught stealing on surveillance cameras throughout the store. In the video you can see him piling on the purses, one after the other.

"It feels really bad to see what your parents have worked for go to nothing, because people feel they can come in and take what's yours," Daisy Tsaftarides said.

This year all Daisy wants for Christmas is for the thief to get caught.

"We are trying to get this guy so he doesn't hit any more businesses. You don't find small businesses like us that much anymore. We don't want this to happen to anybody else. It's a hard thing to go through," she said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Jackson Twp. Police at (330) 834-3960.
