Bank Employee Helps Track Down Suspect Car After Armed Robbery

CANTON, Ohio– One bank robbery suspect is in custody and another suspect is still at-large after authorities said the two men robbed the Bank of Magnolia on Cleveland Ave. in Canton on Wednesday.

Stark County Sheriff George T. Maier said just before 4 p.m., theĀ  men– one wearing a bandana over his face and one wearing a sheer mask over his face– came into the bank.

One suspect jumped over the counter and started gathering money, while the other had a gun and stood in the lobby, according to a press release from the Stark County sheriff.

After the robbery, the suspects took off in a 2013 Toyota Camry rental car.

Authorities said a bank employee got in their car and followed the suspect vehicle, providing a detailed description of the car and the direction the suspects were heading.

Canton police found the car on 13th St.; deputies from the Stark County Sheriff’s Office arrested Christopher Thomas Jones on Sherrick Rd. after they said he was found with money that had dye stains on it.

Jones was booked at the Stark County Jail on aggravated robbery charges and several other misdemeanor warrants.
