A dog is not only man’s best friend, but he may also help man make friends.

A recent poll, as reported by MyFoxPhilly.com, found 2/3 of dog owners have made about five friendships thanks to their pets.

The poll was done in conjunction with the release of the DVD The Snowman and the Snowdog.

Participants said as they walk their dog, they engage in conversation with strangers and often talk about their dogs.

About 42 percent of people said they were even suspicious of people who don’t own a dog.
