CLEVELAND– Cleveland police say the death of a transgender woman appears to be a homicide.

A home health care worker found 52-year-old Betty Janet Skinner, formerly known as Brian, dead in bed at 3100 Devonshire, with what’s believed to be blunt force trauma to the head, according to authorities.

Police said Skinner was physically disabled and required assisted living and regular home health care.

A health care worker left the victim’s home around 10 p.m., Wednesday night, and the discovery was made when the worker returned Thursday morning.

There are no witnesses or suspects.

Anyone with information on the death is asked to call the Cleveland Homicide Unit at (216) 623-5464.
