STRONGSVILLE, Ohio – A funeral home in Strongsville is working to bring some holiday cheer to children whose parents are serving overseas.

Jardine Funeral Home kicked off “Operation Toy Soldier” Sunday afternoon. It is collecting toys from now until December 21 to distribute to kids of all branches of the military. The goal is to hand out one large toy, and one small toy to kids in need.

The big event included a live nativity scene, along with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Some area therapy dogs also came out in support of the campaign.

Dozens of new toys are needed to help fund the campaign.

“Any toys that five to ten-year-olds would like. Footballs, Barbie dolls, baseballs. Anything that you can think of,” said Crystal Jardine, co-owner of Jardine Funeral Home.

Organizers of the event said the goal is to bring a smile to children’s faces, while also giving back to our men and women in uniform.
