Scott Daugherty was arrested and charged with Drug Possession and Robbery.

Police say the victim called authorities to let them know she saw Daugherty near the Walmart in Elyria. Police arrived and took him into custody.

According to police, the 22-year-old woman left work just before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and headed to her car in the Best Buy parking lot. She was in her car for a short time when a man opened the door, grabbed her by the neck and said “give me your money or you’ll be dead.”

The woman offered the suspect her debit card, which he refused. He continued to choke her while trying to start the car, when the woman told him her keys and purse were in the trunk.

As he approached the trunk, the woman was able to get out of the car and get away. She ran back inside the store, where good Samaritans called 911.
