BOWLING GREEN, OH — Bowling Green State University announced Thursday it is cutting several faculty positions before next school year.

According to the University, the employment contracts of 30 non-tenure track faculty members will not be renewed for the 2014-2015 school year.

Dr. Rodney Rogers, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost, says the reductions are primarily the result of a smaller than expected freshman class.

Rogers also says the cuts are due to the University’s commitment to increase the salaries of full-time faculty members to the mean of peer universities along with a decline in funding.

Those faculty members affected will remain under contract until May 2014.
