GREEN, Ohio — The Transportation Security Administration has expanded its TSA PreCheck operations to Akron-Canton Airport.

According to a release from the airport, eligible passengers flying on Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways can use the new program.

The program allows pre-approved travelers to do the following in selected screening lanes:

— Leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt
— Keep laptops in their cases
— Keep compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on

“We are very supportive of TSA’s move toward risk-based security assessment,” said Rick McQueen, president and CEO of the airport. “It just makes sense to allow qualified, lower risk customers to enjoy a speedier screening experience.”

Very frequent fliers invited by their airlines and passengers who are members of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s trusted traveler programs can participate.

Other passengers who want to join PreCheck can also pay a fee, verify their identity and provide fingerprints at an enrollment center to be eligible.
