John Wise

AKRON, Ohio — The Massillon man charged with shooting and killing his wife inside Akron General Medical Center was found guilty Friday.

John Wise, 66, shot his wife, Barbara, 65, in August 2012 as she laid in the intensive care unit.

Barbara Wise had been recovering from a brain aneurysm. Previously, authorities said a “mercy killing” was being considered as a possible motive.

Wise was found guilty of aggravated murder, murder and felonious assault, according to the prosecutor’s office. He was also found guilty on three firearm specifications.

Wise’s attorney argued he was not guilty by reason of insanity.

He will be sentenced on Monday, November 18.

GOOD! She couldn’t take time off to be sick because he wanted her to take care of him. When he commented that he “didn’t want to take care of her” that put the final nail in his coffin.
