CLEVELAND — Terry Francona is once again proving he is one of the league’s top managers.

Tuesday night, the Cleveland Indians announced Francona was named one of three candidates for the Baseball Writers’ Association of AL America’s Manager of the Year Award.

Red Sox manager John Farrell and A’s manager Bob Melvin are also up for the award.

Francona has a pair of World Series rings from 2004 and 2007 when he was with the Boston Red Sox. In his first season as the Cleveland Indians manager, he claimed the Wild Card spot to reach the postseason for the first time in six years.

The winner of the award will be revealed on November 12.
