Road Reopened After Hazardous Containers Removed

BRECKSVILLE, Ohio– Ira Road between Akron Peninsula Road and Riverview Road in Cuyahoga Falls has been reopened.

It was closed Wednesday night after 12 drums were discovered on one side of Ira Road and 30 containers on the other side.

According to a press release from the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Service, some of the drums contained hazardous materials such as paint, oil-based waste, and possible solvents.

The Ohio EPA said, contractor Chemtron scraped away and removed a small area of impacted soil.

They removed the soil and all of the containers from the site and will determine proper disposal. The waterway was not impacted.
