SCOTTDALE, PA — The mother of a 12-year-old boy says her son found a razor blade in his Halloween candy.

Matthew Hernley was out trick-or-treating Sunday with his friends; Sunday was the designated day for children to trick-or-treat in Scottdale, according to KDKA.

Lydia Nelson, Matthew’s mother, said the razor blade was found in a package of M&M candies.

Nelson does not believe the package was tampered with, but she doesn’t know for sure. She contacted the candy company Monday, who told her the blade may have somehow got into the package by mistake.

I found a one inch peanut plant branch in a jar of peanut butter. If I would have wanted to, I could have tried to make some $$$, but I didn’t. Not everyone is like that!
