Terminally Ill DadCLEVELAND — Scott Nagy, the terminally ill father who walked his daughter down the aisle in a gurney bed earlier this month, died from urethral cancer Monday.

When Nagy’s daughter Sarah got engaged in February, Scott asked if the wedding could be held this year because of his illness.

“I talked with my fiance and his parents and they understood how important it was to me that my dad walk me down the aisle. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a little girl,” cried Sarah.

Scott kept his promise to Sarah, with the help of some volunteers.

Nurses from the University Hospitals SICU and paramedics helped get Scott from his hospital room to the church in Strongsville where he walked Sarah down the aisle.

The story captured hearts all over the world.

Sarah’s family has started a fundraiser in Scott’s honor to help another University Hospitals patient keep a promise in the face of extraordinary adversity.
