Teen Victim of Fatal Shooting Identified

CLEVELAND – The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office released the name of the 17-year-old who was fatally shot in Cleveland Tuesday evening.

The victim was identified as Allen Demartae of Cleveland.

According to a press release from Sgt. Sammy Morris with the Cleveland Division of Police, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, officers heard a gunshot in the area of E. 71st and Chambers Avenue.

After checking the area, police found Demartae with a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

The homicide unit is now investigating.

Morris said Demartae and another individual were involved in a fight. During the altercation, a handgun was used to shoot the Demartae. The other individual then ran off.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Homicide Unit at  216-623-5464 .

An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.
