CLEVELAND -- PlayhouseSquare invites you to "be there when the lights come on!"
President and CEO Art J. Falco made an appearance on Fox 8 News in the Morning Wednesday where he shared the date of a special event.
“We are here to announce that we are going to have the official unveiling on May 2nd. It’s going to be a great community celebration, a gala benefit to support all of our arts education programs, of which we have many. It’s going to be a great party for all of Northeast Ohio and we hope that everyone comes down May 2nd," Falco said.
Attendees will be the first to experience what promises to be an elaborate transformation of one of the city's true treasures.
Design plans for the district include electronic signage, gateway entry points to define the neighborhood and a one-of-a-kind centerpiece suspended at the intersection of East 14th Street and Euclid Avenue -- a chandelier made of 4,200 crystals.
“The wind, the snow, the ice," Falco said, noting how people question the beacon's outdoor placement, "and we have some very smart engineers working on it. There’s going to be some heating elements in the chandelier hidden.”
PlayhouseSquare will also include a fire pit and Dynomite, a gourmet burger stand by Zack Bruell.
The iconic blade sign was also replaced with one that is more vibrant and more energy-efficient.

Fox 8 News was honored to host Falco for the exclusive announcement and will provide updates on the upcoming celebration as more details are released.
