CLEVELAND — Week #10 of FOX 8′s ‘Friday Night Touchdown‘ kicks off on Friday, November 1st, at 11:00 p.m.

Each week during the 2013 high school football season, we nominate four area games to receive extended coverage both on air, and online, on the Friday Night Touchdown webpage.

Students, staff, players, coaches, fans and FOX 8 viewers are invited to vote for their favorite school or game.

The poll has just been closed and the winner is: Norton at Kent Roosevelt! (see results below)

FOX 8 Sports Director John Telich will provide extended coverage of the winning game on Friday night, both on-air and online.

Here were this week’s nominees:

A.  WADSWORTH (8-1, 5-1) at NORDONIA (8-1, 5-1):   Both teams have lost heartbreakers to Surburban League leader Highland (9-0) – Wadsworth by one point, Nordonia by three. However, both teams have already clinched Playoff berths: Wadsworth in Region 1 and Nordonia in Region 4. Both teams are also still alive for a share of the league championship, with a win. Nordonia can secure a home Playoff game with a win, while Wadsworth will need a win and a little help to leap over Cleveland Heights to be the 8th and final host site in round one. The Grizzlies defeated the Knights 41-20 in the 2012 regular season finale.

B. NORTON (8-1, 5-0)  at  KENT ROOSEVELT (8-1, 5-0):   This is a de facto Championship game in the Portage Trail Metro Division. Both teams come in unbeaten in conference play and needed a win for Playoff positioning. Norton is currently on the outside, looking in, as the 10th place team in the loaded Region 7, which features three undefeated teams. The Panthers have not beaten a team with winning record, but have won eight straight games since a season-opening setback at Mogadore (8-1). Meanwhile, Roosevelt is riding a seven-game winning streak, after losing to Stow-Munroe Falls (8-1) back in week #2. The Rough Riders can clinch a home Playoff game in Region 3 with a win.

C. KENSTON (7-2, 5-1) at AURORA (8-1, 5-1):  Teams are part of a three-way tie with Chagrin Falls, atop the Chagrin Valley Conference Chagrin Division. Kenston has won four straight, after a loss at Falls. Aurora beat the Tigers 14-13 in week #4, before falling on the road at West Geauga. Winner can clinch a share of the Division Title, while Kenston can also secure a home Playoff game in Region 7. Aurora is currently 8th in Region 7 and needs a win to avoid falling out of the postseason. There is added incentive to win the game, given that the loser could face defending Division III State Champion St. Vincent-St. Mary (9-0) in the opening round of the Playoffs.

D. PERRY (5-4, 3-3) at CHAGRIN FALLS (7-2, 5-1):  Perry has struggled in conference play, losing two of its last three and four of seven games. However, the Pirates could still sneak into the Region 11 Playoffs with a win and a little help.  Chagrin Falls has navigated a very challenging schedule and despite two tough losses, the Tigers are still atop the Region 11 standings. Falls can clinch the top seed with a win and there is an outside chance that if Perry wins, the two teams just might meet again on the same field in the first week of the Division IV Playoffs.
