Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for McDonald’s Murder

AKRON — The suspect in the murder of a local man outside a McDonald’s restaurant pleaded guilty Wednesday to several charges.

Johnnl Lewis, 21, pleaded guilty to Aggravated Murder, Aggravated Robbery, Tampering with Evidence, Having Weapons Under Disability and three firearm specifications.

Police say John Lehman, 28, who worked at a McDonald’s restaurant on West Market Street, was shot on April 6 while he was taking out the trash.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Lehman confronted Lewis as he tried to enter the restaurant. Lewis shot Lehman twice and then fled the scene.

Lewis was sentenced to life in prison and will be eligible for parole in 2044.
