MENOMONEE FALLS, WI — More stores are trying to get a jump start on Black Friday shopping.

This week, Kohl’s announced it will open its doors on Thanksgiving Day for the first time ever.

The retailer will open at 8:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and will stay open for 28 hours straight through midnight Friday at stores nationwide.

Kohl’s chief customer officer says Black Friday shopping has become a tradition for families. The company wanted to open early as a convenience to customers “who want to make Kohl’s their first stop.”

Kohl’s joins a number of stores opening on Thanksgiving this year. Last month, Macy’s announced it would be opening its doors on Thanksgiving Day for the first time in its 155 year history.

Sherry, Although I agree that if you don’t like it, don’t shop. But I can’t help but think that the people who have to work already give up most of their family time on other holidays while you get to bbq and be with your family. While you get to enjoy your family, they are sleeping so they can work 10 hours overnight to accommodate your shopping habits. Just one more example of how we do not care about others for our own selfish reasons.
