CLEVELAND — Week #9 of FOX 8′s ‘Friday Night Touchdown‘ kicks off on Friday, October 25th at 11:00 p.m.

Each week during the 2013 high school football season, we nominate four area games to receive extended coverage both on air, and online, on the Friday Night Touchdown webpage.

Students, staff, players, coaches, fans and FOX 8 viewers are invited to vote for their favorite school or game.

The Game of the Week for Week #9 is:  AKRON GARFIELD (5-3, 3-1)  at AKRON ELLET (8-0, 4-0)

This one is for more than just bragging rights in the Rubber City. The winner will also have the inside track at the Akron City Series Championship.

Garfield has won three straight games, after its only conference loss, to Buchtel in week five.

The Rams are playing their best football of the season, throttling Division VI powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas 56-28 in week seven.

Meantime, Ellet has been the class of the City Series all year and it looking for the first undefeated regular season in school history.

The Orangemen have beaten three teams with winning records, including an impressive 41-6 rout of Alliance (6-2) and a dominating 23-2 win over Buchtel.

Ellet has shown it can both score and defend, topping 35 points six times, while holding five opponents to seven points or less.

If the Orangemen can win Friday, they could secure a Playoff berth in the very difficult Region 4.

FOX 8 Sports Director John Telich will provide extended coverage of the winning game on Friday night, both on-air and online.
