AKRON–Police said they’ve arrested a man in connection with the murder of a woman, whose body was found on a loading dock in Akron.

According to Akron police, DNA evidence linked Tyrone Benford, 41, to the death of Lori Patch, 53.

On Oct. 4, officers responded to East South Street for reports of a female down. They found a woman’s body on the loading dock of a vacant business. She had severe head trauma.

Police said shortly after Patch was found dead, officers responded to a break-in at the Akron Masjid on Old Main Street. They said they found Benford in a bathroom.

He was charged with breaking and entering and booked into the Summit County Jail.

Now, detectives have signed a murder warrant in connection with Patch’s death.
