Eaton Township, OH — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a double fatal injury crash in Lorain County.

It happened on Cowley Road just before 5:00 p.m. Sunday.

Officials say a Ford F-150 was driving northbound on Cowley Road when the driver lost control and veered off the roadway. The truck struck a utility pole and overturned several times. All three people inside the vehicle were ejected.

Nocholas Russell, 23, of North Ridgeville, was driving the truck. He was taken by Grafton EMS to the Elyria Memorial Hospital where he died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Jeffery Bouman, 24, of Columbia Station, was transported by Metro Life-Flight to the Cleveland Metro Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The other passenger, 23-year-old Jordan Smith, of Grafton, refused treatment at the scene and later went to the Elyria Memorial Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Investigators don’t know if seat belts were being used at the time of the crash. Officials say the front airbags were deployed on impact. It’s unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
