While many may think California or New York have the most crime, a surprising state has been listed as the most dangerous in the country.

Tennessee was listed among the top 10 in the country for murders and robberies, according to USA Today. It was also first for aggravated assaults.

According to the study, the majority of violent crimes take place in some of the major metropolitan areas, including Memphis. The city has the country’s 5th worst crime rate, while Nashville was the 18th worst.

Rounding out the top 5 most dangerous states were Nevada, Alaska, New Mexico and South Carolina.

Ohio was not named in the top 10.

I don’t agree with this article. Statistically this is not accurate. I don’t doubt that Memphis is number 5, but the state being number 1??? Um, no! I’m from northeast Ohio and have lived in Nashville for over 2 years. I’ve traveled all over the country and Tennessee. I’ve never felt unsafe or threatened here. I feel safer down here than I ever did in Akron or Cleveland. I hope this article does not discourage fellow Ohioans from visiting this beautiful, clean, fun, and SAFE city of Nashville!!

This study is bull****. I find it odd they conveinantly left out Illinois. Chicongo is the highest rated crime city in the country. Not to mention other cities in Ill.

One of the reasons I moved from Ohio to TN was because of the low crime. I feel safer here than I ever did anywhere in Ohio!
