ELYRIA, OH — Police are investigating two attempted lurings Thursday afternoon that police say may be related.

In the first incident around 4:30 p.m., officers were called to the BP station on E. Bridge Street where a young girl said she was stopped by a man while walking home from volleyball practice.

The man, who appeared to be in his 50s or 60s, was driving a smaller, white pickup truck and asked her if she wanted a ride home. She declined and entered the gas station to call police.

Less than an hour later, police were called to Melvyn Road where a woman told officers that a man stopped her daughter and her group of friends and tried to get the girls inside his vehicle.

The woman said she noticed a white GMC truck in the area of Westway Gardens throughout the day. The girls’ description of the suspect was the same as in the previous incident.

The officers searched the area, but were not able to find the driver.

If you have any information, contact police.
